PRESQUE ISLE, Maine – Sharon D. Worcester, 62, passed away on Sunday, July 8, 2018, at The Aroostook Medical Center in Presque Isle after a valiant battle with cancer. She was born on May 29, 1956, in Bangor, the daughter of Donald Neil and Alice (Backman) Worcester, Sr. She graduated from Sumner Memorial High School in Sullivan and Eastern Maine Vocational Institute in Bangor. She moved to Presque Isle to begin a 40+ year career as a Water Treatment Specialist with the Presque Isle Utilities District. While working full time, Sharon attended the University of Presque Isle where she carried a 4.0 average and was honored with valedictorian of her graduating class.
Sharon loved to read, knit and crochet (was a member of the Knotty Knitters), played cards and was a Master Gamer, winning many tournaments.
She is survived by three brothers, Daniel W. Backman, Sr. and his wife, Ramona, of Winter Harbor, Donald N. Worcester, Sr. and his wife, Lori, of Hermon, and Alan R. Worcester, Sr. of Fryeburg, a sister, Pamela J. McCombs and her husband, John, of Myrtle Beach, SC; her Aunt Betty Worcester, and nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends, Victoria Tanenbaum, and Adrien and Katrina Ellis, as well as her beloved cat, Sweetie.
A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, July 15, 2018, at Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, 30 Church Street, Presque Isle. The family received friends at the funeral home from 1 p.m. until the time of service.
