FORT FAIRFIELD, Maine — The husband and wife duo of Andrew and Julie Bouchard of Caribou cruised to overall titles in the Spud Cycle Classic 25-mile bicycle race, held Sunday.
Sixteen racers completed the course.
Andrew Bouchard, last year’s runner-up, was the champion with a time of 1 hour, 6 minutes and 5 seconds. Joey Bard was second, out pedaling Gregg Collins across the finish line. Both had times of 1:08:16.
Julie Bouchard defended her title in the women’s division with a time of 1:13:03. Kim Dorsey was second in 1:29:40, with Jemelie McCorrison and Selena Ouellette rounding out the women’s field.
Male age division winners were Bard (16-29 male), Bouchard (30-39 male), Chris Miller (40-49 male), Collins (50-59 male) and David Nadeau (60 and over male).
The race is held as part of the Maine Potato Blossom Festival and was directed by former Fort Fairfield recreation director Tom Towle.
