GERTRUDE M. MCGARY, HOULTON – Gertrude M. McGary, 87, passed away on Tuesday, July 17, 2018, at Madigan Estates. She was born on November 12, 1930, in Houlton, the daughter of Robert and Lottie (Fogg) Gogan Sr.
She grew up in Houlton and graduated from Houlton High School in1948. She married Lloyd McGary in 1950 and together they would raise six children. She worked at the shoe factory, and for area farmers. Gertrude became a CNA and worked for many years at Madigan Estates. She loved watching the Boston Red Sox and Celtics, and Christmas movies on television as well as bowling in local leagues.
Gertrude is survived by five children, Sandra Little and her husband, David, of Mulberry, FL, Darlene Scott of Pinellas Park, FL, Ronnie McGary of Houlton, Randy McGary and his wife, Karla, of Houlton and Mulberry, FL, and Kristie Wright and her husband, Dale, of Bedell, New Brunswick, Canada; as well as ten grandchildren, and several great and great-great grandchildren. She also leaves behind a sister, Ruby Horwood of Burlington, MA, five sisters-in-law, Joan Gogan of Houlton, Fern Bubar of Houlton, Margaret Siltz of Linneus, Norma McGary of Houlton, and Cheryl McGary of Houlton, as well as one brother-in-law, Carl McGary of Houlton, as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a daughter, Lisa McGary, two granddaughters, Stacy and Kimberly Scott, a son-in-law Ronnie Scott, and two brothers, Robert and Richard Gogan.
Friends called at 12 p.m. on Thursday, July 19, 2018, at the Salvation Army on Court St., where a service was conducted at 1 p.m. with Envoy Frank Nataluk and Rev. Michael Gogan officiating. Interment followed at Evergreen Cemetery, Houlton. A reception took place following the committal at the Salvation Army.
