ISLAND FALLS, Maine — We have enjoyed another great week of golf at VaJoWa. The weather has been great and the course is in great shape. Get those clubs out and play a round this week.
Congratulations to Steve Merry for scoring a hole in one on the 16th hole. Merry carded the ace using a 6 iron on the 197-yard hole. The shot was witnessed by Bill Boulier, Clay Halliday and Warren Walker. It was his second ace this year, the other coming on hole No. 7. It was his fourth overall, with three of them being on No. 16.
Another good crowd turned out on Sunday for the Pairs and Spares Scramble. First place with 70 went to Tom Ryan, Ralph Powers Dick Kelley and Betty Smallwood. Finishing second were Deb Porter, Diane Tucker, Mike and Andy Ivey with 77. Third place at 79 went to Bev Osborn, Greg Gayne, Rick Bates and Terry Pettengill. Come and join in next Sunday at 3 p.m.
In the Friday Frolic, the team of Halliday, Powers and Becky Kelley were the only team to finish, as the rest of the field avoided the rain and enjoyed the comfort of the Slice for their favorite food and beverage. Their score was an even par 36.
