PRESQUE ISLE, Maine – It is with great sadness that the family of Diane Smith Monahan, 66, wife of late husband, Stephen Monahan, announce her passing on August 11, 2018, at her daughter, Heather’s, in Liverpool, NY, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Diane was known for her spunk, big-heartedness, sharp humor and personality which usually entered the room before she did. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading, quilting, and sharing laughs and stories with her many friends and family members. Diane leaves with us a legacy of making the best of every moment and to enjoy life on your terms. Born in Presque Isle, ME, on May 9, 1952, Diane is the daughter of the late Floyd L. Smith and late Marion Wood Manter.
Diane is survived by her daughters, Heather Ruggaber Golden and her husband, Ryan, of Liverpool, NY, and grandchildren, Lily, Rylee, and Jack; and Michelle Trinceri and her husband, Larry, of Hampton, NH, and grandchildren, Lance and Isabelle. She is survived by her sisters, Adrienne Morang of Foxboro, MA, and Bonnie Glidden and her brother-in-law, Fred, of South China, ME; her sister-in-law, Sue Smith of Lubbock, TX; her step-brothers, John and Bobby Manter; her step-sister, Carol Ricker, and her step-mother, Joyce Smith; and her half-brother, Timothy Smith. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins whom she loved very much.
A special thank is extend to Diane’s best friend, Laurie Archer, for her care and support. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Stephen; her brother, Brian Smith; and her stepfather, Jerome Manter.
