PRESQUE ISLE — The University of Maine at Presque Isle will be undergoing planned maintenance to its electrical system Wednesday morning, taking advantage of the Christmas break to get work done.
“UMPI will have a planned power shutdown on Dec. 28 to update two major components in its electrical system — a transformer near Merriman Hall and a power distribution box in Park Hall,” said Rachel Rice, director of community and media relations at the University.
The campus will be without power for just over four hours.
“The campus will be shut down at 7 a.m. so Maine Public Service crews can complete the maintenance work. Power is expected to be restored by 11:30 a.m. The University will be open for business by noon,” said Rice.
Rice said officials chose to complete the work during the holiday break in order to have the least impact on the campus community.
