PRESQUE ISLE — Time Warner Cable customers will have continued access to WAGM-TV and affiliated networks, following word that the companies — who’ve been in negotiations over retransmission of Fox and CBS programming — have reached an agreement to continue service through 2012.
Had negotiations not been successful, customers of Time Warner would have lost access to Fox and CBS, as well as local programming including News Source 8 as of Jan. 1, 2012.
Discussion of the contract concluded just prior to Christmas, with company officials expressing confidence that service would continue for local customers.
“We expect to finalize an agreement with WAGM without any interruption of service,” stated Andrew Russell, New England communications manager for Time Warner Cable, in an e-mail to the Star-Herald dated Dec. 24.
Carole Kozloski, chief operating officer and president of WAGM-TV, said she was pleased with the way things turned out.
“WAGM-TV is pleased that an agreement has been reached with Time Warner Cable. There will be no interruption of WAGM CBS and Fox to our viewers,” said Kozloski.
“We are humbled by the tremendous outpouring of support from our viewers. Thanks to their efforts, Time Warner Cable will continue to bring your favorite local news, weather, sports and network programming to Aroostook County,” Kozloski said.
