MARILYN JOYCE BURPEE, BENEDICTA – Marilyn Joyce Burpee, 76, passed away peacefully Tuesday, August 14, 2018. She was born October 26, 1941, in New Brunswick, Canada, to her parents, James and Evelyn Berry.
She was a strong woman who was widowed at a young age due to the sudden death of her husband, Edward Jewett, after only a few years of marriage. Having two small daughters to support, she went to work as a nurse in Houlton, ME, where she would eventually meet her second husband, Raymond Burpee, who she was married to for 48 years, until his death in 2017.
She is survived by her children, Diane Sawyer and husband, Frank, Barbara Hawkins and husband, Tony, Denise Tapley and her companion, Mike Stevens, and Berry Burpee and wife, Cassie; along with her brothers, Bruce, Stuart, Gordon Berry and their wives; a sister, Grace McKinney; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and both husbands, she was predeceased by brothers, Frederick, Robert, Thomas and Keith Berry; and her son-in-law, Jerry Tapley.
She was a special woman who will forever be missed. Per her wishes, there will be no services.
