PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — The University of Maine Cooperative Extension invites all interested to attend its 2018 Potato Fumigation Field Day Wednesday, Aug. 29, at the University of Maine at Presque Isle’s potato fields.
The free event will begin at 10 a.m. with presentations, followed by lunch and an open discussion session. The UMPI fields are located next to the wind turbine structure; participants should go to the south entrance and follow the signs.
Presentations will include Vapam research trials, now and in the future, with UMaine’s Dr. Jay Hao; Vapam product features, Ben Soistman; fall fumigation experience, Bruce Flewelling; Vapam experience from other areas, Mike Herrington; and a wrapup with Dr. Steven B. Johnson of the Presque Isle UMCE.
Johnson and Hao, along with Andrei Alyokhin, UMaine professor, and Aaron Buzza, UMPI assistant scientist, organized the field day, which offers 1 CCA credit and one MBPC credit.
