GREGORY ALAN DORE, HOULTON, ME, AND MARYLAND – Gregory Alan Dore, 39, passed away at his mother’s home on Saturday, August 25, 2018. He was born on November 5, 1978, in Syracuse, NY, the son of Nancy (Gilpatrick) McMannus.
Greg graduated Salutatorian from Southern Aroostook High School in Dyer Brook. Throughout his teens he was a member of the Bethel Pentecostal Church in Oakfield. He participated in the youth group and was a camp counselor at Whited Bible Camp in Bridgewater. He went onto earn his Bachelor’s Degree and then his PhD in Psycology Research. He was employed at the University Of Maine for ten years, and most recently at the National Institute Of Health Biomedical Research Center in Baltimore, MD. He earned many awards and participated in writing many publications.
He is survived by his mother, Nancy McMannus; an aunt, Beverly Kirk and her husband, Donald; an uncle, Steve Varney and his wife, Robin, all of Houlton, as well as three cousins, Jason Gilpatrick, Ryan Varney, and Regan Varney, and many more relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his grandparents, Margaret and Ervin Varney.
Relatives and friends may call at 10 a.m. on Saturday, September 1, 2018, at Dunn Funeral Home, Houlton, where a 1 p.m. graveside service will be conducted at Hodgdon Cemetery with the Rev. Sterling Lawrence officiating.
