HERBERT J. EVANS, HOLDEN and LITTLETON – Herbert J. Evans, age 86, passed away August 24, 2018, at his home, surrounded by family. He was born in Indian Township (Dana Point) on February 14, 1932, the son of Charles and Cora (Soctomah) Evans.
Herbert was a Korean War veteran and awarded a bronze star. After his service, he was a potato farmer and logger. Herb enjoyed fishing and hunting in his earlier years, and enjoyed sharing stories about his times fishing, hunting, hauling logs and working with the pulp truck. Herbert (Grampy) was a very strong and proud individual, who took great pride in his grandchildren’s goals and achievements. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends for his strength and witty sense of humor.
Herbert is survived by his wife, Edna; children, Herbert N. Evans, Robin and Wayne Davenport; three stepchildren, Janice and Mike Kelley, Richard and Elaine Nason and Diane Mann; grandchildren, Carey Nason and Jonathan Johnson, Sandra and Jon Talbot, Jenelle Evans, Jonathan Evans, Venessa and Tyler Davenport Gilley, Victoria Davenport, Tara and Shawn Pullen, Darren and Julie Kelley; and great-grandchildren, Tucker Gilley, Luke Gilley, Elliot Talbot, Jada Pullen, Jesse Pullen, and Jena Pullen; and special mention of Scott and Joan Hall. He was predeceased by his first wife, Gladys; a daughter, Cindy Evans Tapley; granddaughter, Kristy Tapley; brother, Charles (Sonny) Evans Jr.; and sister, Dorothy Higgins.
A graveside memorial service will be at Littleton Cemetery on September 7, 2018, at noon with a reception following at Meduxnekeag Clubhouse in Littleton, Maine.
