The Houlton golf team continues to make strides on the golf course as the Shires now boast an impressive 12-1 record on the year. The Shires fell for the first time on the links Friday against Mount Desert Island, but rebounded nicely with two wins Monday over Hodgdon and Greenville.
“Everyone is contributing,” Houlton coach Dave Grant said. “It seems it is always someone different every match who steps up. It’s been a great season so far, but still a long way to go.”
Coach Marc Weeks’ Carlisle team won five of its seven matches to improve to 9-4 on the season.
The Ashland, Hodgdon and Central Aroostook squads had several competitions against each other and are getting ready for the Aroostook League Championships at Portage Hills Country Club on Sept. 19. The event serves as the individual and team qualifier for the state tournaments in October.
