GRACE ROSS-CAMPBELL, MOUNT VERNON – Grace Ross-Campbell, 94, of Mount Vernon, died peacefully on Wednesday, August 29, 2018, at her home.
She was born in Monticello, Maine, on July 7, 1924, the daughter of Thaddeus and Hattie (Belyea) Ross. She attended Houlton High School for three years and graduated from Gardiner High School. She went on to attend Farmington Teachers College and Thomas College. She married the love of her life, Clifton “Jack” Campbell, in 1967 in Houlton.
In her professional career, Grace worked several years for the United States Border Patrol and after marrying Jack, worked in Civil Service at Selfridge Air Force Base. After her “retirement”, she worked as a real estate agent well into her 80s. She was a member of the Business and Professional Women of Skowhegan where she was Past President. She was also a member of the Senior Citizens Club of Skowhegan.
Grace was predeceased by her parents and her husband, Jack; three of her brothers, Leland Ross, Clyde Ross, and Olie Ross; her sisters, Inez Stitham and Alice Markey; as well as many cherished nieces and nephews ,including Jean Colter and Jackie Kalinowski whom Grace was like a second mother to. She is survived and treasured by her family and friends too numerous to mention.

Grace will be interred next to her husband, Jack, at the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Civic Center Drive in Augusta. A graveside burial honoring her life was held on September 6, 2018, at 12 noon at the cemetery.
