Eleven boys and girls representing the communities of Presque Isle, Mapleton, Easton and Caribou were named local champions of the Knights of Columbus Soccer Challenge, held Sept. 16 at the University of Maine at Presque Isle.
All 11 advance to the district competition to be held Oct. 13 in Fort Fairfield, with state and international awards up for grabs.
Rev. John J. Harris Council 2524 sponsored the local event.
Winners were: Emily Collins, 9-year-old girls; Josh Harvell, 9-year-old boys; Mallory Cronin, 10-year-old girls; Gavin LeTourneau, 10-year-old boys; Kacie Marston, 11-year-old girls; Owen Sweeney, 11-year-old boys; Reagen Deschene, 12-year-old girls; Augustus Bonner, 12-year-old boys; Taylor Marston, 13-year-old girls; Jude Shea, 13-year-old boys; and Eva Callioras, 14-year-old girls.
