AUGUSTA, Maine – Secretary of State Matthew Dunlap is announcing a change in the visitation schedule for five of the Bureau of Motor Vehicle’s mobile driver license units, which will become effective Oct. 1.
The 19 mobile units, staffed by BMV personnel, make regularly scheduled visits to provide license services in areas that are a significant distance away from the 13 BMV branch offices. Five of those locations will experience scheduling or location changes this fall.
The Sterns Building site in Waterville is closing, with its last visit on Sept. 28. The new location will be at the Congregational Church in Winslow located at 12 Lithgow St., starting Monday, Oct. 1. The days and hours will remain the same, and this location will now offer road tests. In addition, the department is making scheduling changes in Dover-Foxcroft, Houlton, Jackman and Millinocket in an effort to reduce overtime travel costs for the bureau, while maintaining a consistency in providing quality service for Maine citizens. Dover-Foxcroft will now have two visits instead of three, allowing for an additional day of service in Millinocket. In Houlton, a half-day of service hours is being added.
Below is a listing of changes, with days and times. All of the BMV branch office and mobile unit information is also posted online at http://www.maine.gov/sos/bmv/locations/index.html .
