The Easton Recreation Department invites youth to two field trips next month.
On Tuesday, Oct. 2, the bus will depart from the rec center to Goughan’s Farm at 12 p.m., returning at 3 p.m. The cost is $8. Please send exact change on the day of the trip. While there we’ll go on a wagon ride, do the corn maze, get a pumpkin and enjoy homemade ice cream.
Please wear a recreation T-shirt and comfortable walking shoes. Open to grades 1 and up unless accompanied by an adult.
On Friday, Oct. 5, the bus will leave at 8:30 a.m. for a field trip to Kingswood Entertainment, returning by 4:30 p.m. This is another annual favorite: laser tag, arcade fun, climbing structure, bounce house, archery, bowling and more. Bag lunches or lunch money required. Food sales and snacks are available for purchase.
Recreation shirts are required. In Canada, birth certificates and release form are required. Grades 1 and up unless accompanied by an adult.
The cost is $20 American money for all activities. Please send exact change on the day of the trip.
Karate camp
Karate camp will be held Oct. 1-4, 10:30 a.m.-12 noon at the Rec Center.
Cost: $15. Who: Grade 1 and up. Must have eight enrolled to offer.
To-Shin Do is based on ancient warrior disciplines. At the same time, theirs is a modern approach to handling today’s threats. Dress in comfortable clothes to easily move. Taught by Brett Varnum.
Children’s yoga
This isn’t your traditional yoga class. Children’s yoga is a different way to learn about the body. We will stretch, strengthen, gain flexibility and balance through short, age-appropriate activities, as well as learn how to calm our bodies, breath and mind. Yoga has shown to improve concentration, memory, attention, problem-solving and decision-making, all terrific skills needed for learning.
Relaxation is just as important as exercise and we will learn these concepts and more, all by having fun. Classes will be held on Mondays, starting Oct. 15, and run through Nov. 5.
The cost is $20. We must have 10 participants to run the program. Classes will take place at the Rec. until 4:15 p.m. Children must have a note to ride the bus from school to the Rec. Open to kindergarten and up. The class will be instructed by Julie French.
In concert
Bus trip to MercyMe live in concert at Bangor’s Cross Center on Sunday, Nov. 4. The bus will depart from the Recreation Center at 1 p.m. Supper will be at a Bangor restaurant before the concert.
The cost is $40 for transportation & ticket. Attendees will be responsible for own meal. Up to 40 tickets available. Must have 20 take the bus. Payment arrangements can be made. Please register via email, recreation@eastonme.com.
Easton Craft Fair
The annual Craft Fair is slated Saturday, Dec. 1, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Easton Elementary School. Crafters should reserve a space by emailing
crazycountygirl96@gmail.com or call Melissa at 227-4093. Spots are $20 before Oct. 31 or until full, whichever comes first; $40 after Oct. 31. Registration money benefits the Little School Restoration in Easton. There will also be raffles that directly benefit the Paige Aerin Lento Memorial.
Community Library
Did you know Easton High School also serves as a Community Library?
