PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — Four University of Maine at Presque Isle graduates will receive the university’s highest athletic honor Saturday, Sept. 29, when they are inducted into the Owls’ Athletic Hall of Fame.
The ceremony highlights sports-related activities offered during the university’s Homecoming Weekend Sept. 27-30.
Hall of Fame officials will induct Sarah Beasley (Class of 2006), Glenn Sharp (Class of 1997), Gerald Hutchinson, Jr. (Class of 1971) and Adam Smith (Class of 1985) during a dinner and ceremony at the Campus Center’s Multi-Purpose Room. The reception begins at 5:30 p.m., followed by the dinner at 6 p.m.

In other events, the women’s basketball team is hosting a spaghetti supper fundraiser Thursday, Sept. 27, from 5-7 p.m. at the Campus Center. The cost is $8 per ticket. Tickets are available at the door or by calling Sandra McDougal at 768-9506.
The women’s and men’s soccer teams host SUNY-Canton at Park Family Field Saturday, Sept. 29, with the matches scheduled at noon and 2:30 p.m., respectively.
On Sunday, Sept. 30, a parent-student disc golf tournament is set for 9 a.m. at Park Family Field. Competitors will have an opportunity to win a $50 gift card at the Campus Store.
The UMPI and All Comers XC 5K running event is at 11 a.m., also at Park Family Field.
Fisher College’s soccer teams pay a visit to Park Family Field. The women’s game is at noon and the men’s game begins at 2:30 p.m.
