ISLAND FALLS, Maine — October is upon us already. The golf season is passing by way too quickly. But, there is still time to enjoy a round of golf. The fall colors are beautiful, as are the course conditions.
It is going to be a long winter, so get those end of season rounds in now before it is too late.
The Cash Scramble played on Sunday was enjoyed by all with great end of season weather. Low gross honors went to Scot Walker and Bill Dwyer with a 66 and low net winners were the father/son team of John and Stephen Walker with a 60.
Second gross, with a 67, were Clay Halliday and Mike Fleming, followed Jamie Leavitt and Brandon McLaughlin at 69. Second net went to Warren Walker and Bill Boulier with a 62. Third net were Joe Sullivan and Gary Grant with a 66.
Closest to the pin winners were Dwyer on No. 4 at 8-feet; Fleming on No. 7 at 6-8; Steve Greenlaw, with the shot of the day at 8 inches on hole No. 11; and Steve Walker on No. 16 at 6-5.
The couples pairs and spares winner this week were Jon Smallwood, Bev Osborn and Terry Pettengill with a 36. Finishing second with a 37, were Tom Ryan, Mike Ivey and delightful Diana Tucker. Third spot went to Peter Lawlor, Betty Smallwood and Deb Porter at 39.
This Thursday at 4 p.m. will be a two-person scramble. The entry fee is $5 and winners will be paid in cash. Sign up in the pro shop between 9 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. daily, weather permitting.
The Slice Restaurant hours for October are Thursday and Friday from 4 to 7 or later and Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. or later. Sundays in October is NFL LOGO BOGO, where if you are wearing your favorite NFL Logo apparel you can purchase one appetizer and get one free, limit one per customer. Plan on attending this Sunday and cheer on your favorite team.
