BRIDGEWATER, Maine – Maynard E. Cowan, 77, passed away on September 27, 2018. Maynard was born in Danforth, ME. He is survived by his wife, Cherry L. (Edmunds) Cowan; children, Victoria Moody and her husband, Charles, Matthew Cowan and his wife, Molly, and Nina Bradstreet and her husband, Troy. He was blessed with five grandchildren, Abigail Moody, Noah Bradstreet, Taylor Cowan, Nicholas Bradstreet, and Sophia Bradstreet; his siblings are brother, Maurice Cowan and his wife, Linda, of Weston, two sisters, Winnifred Windsor of Waltham, MA, and Sheila Keith of Lincoln, ME. Maynard had many special nieces and nephews that he loved. Maynard is predeceased by his parents, Earl and Leola (Kinney) Cowan. Maynard most enjoyed spending time with his family and friends at East Grand Lake, and fishing with his lifelong friend, George Fischer.
Maynard was recognized by Maine Health Care Association for being an outstanding resident in Elder Care Facilities. He was presented with a plaque for his outstanding stamina, dealing with his disabilities, and also for his kind disposition and his humor. Maynard served as the resident counsel president at the AHC nursing home as well as serving on several committees at St. Anne’s Episcopal church. He owned and operated Maynard Cowan and Son’s Slaughter House in Mars Hill, for many years and finished his career as a transportation broker.
A reception for friends and family will be held at 10:30 a.m. on October 7, 2018, at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Fort Fairfield, following the regular church service.
