PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — The Maine Statewide Wood Energy Assistance Team and the Maine Forest Service will sponsor the first Maine Modern Wood Heat Symposium from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Thurdsay, Oct. 25, at Northern Maine Community College.

The daylong workshop and networking event will take place at the college’s Edmonds Conference Center.

This event is for owners or managers of commercial sized buildings heated with fossil fuels (schools, municipalities, businesses, etc), community and economic development leaders, elected officials, modern wood heating practitioners and vendors, and existing modern wood heat building owners and managers.

Topics will include wood heating of commercial and institutional facilities in northern Maine, with emphasis on Aroostook County, along with information for heating buildings with wood chips or pellets and guidance on technical and financial assistance. Participants will have an opportunity to network with current system owners and practitioners with expertise in this technology.

A second forum will be held in central/southern Maine in the fall of 2019.
