PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — Maine Epsilon Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi met on Sept. 20 at the home of Helene Bernard.
All members were present and enjoyed reconnecting after summer break.
The group’s beloved sister Virginia Packard passed away in August after a period of declining health. She had been a member of Beta Sigma Phi since 1965 and even attended meetings in Florida during the winter months. Sorority was very important to Ginny and she will be missed.
Upcoming events around the community were discussed, including the University of Maine at Presque Isle’s Homecoming, an art show at Riverside Park sponsored by Partners in the Arts, a fundraising concert for veterans in Caribou featuring Star City Syndicate, and seasonal hayrides in Mapleton for families to enjoy.
The 50/50 raffle was won by Betsy Fitzherbert. Many happy dollars were shared about recent moves, travels, weddings and grandchildren.
Refreshments were served by Priscilla Nichols, Mae Gerrish, Bonnie Cowett and Helene Bernard.
The next meeting will be Thursday, Oct. 18, at 7 p.m. at the home of Judy Kenney. Members should bring a wrapped gift for the pound auction fundraiser.
