Anna Mae Lorigan

ANNA MAE LORIGAN, ORIENT – Anna Mae Lorigan, precious wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 20, 2018, surrounded by her grateful family. She was 89.
Annie called Northern Maine home for thirty-four years after settling happily into retirement in the dream home she built with her husband, LTC (RET) Robert E. Lorigan, on East Grand Lake in Orient, Maine.
Annie was born in 1929 in the small mill town of Johnsonburg, Pennsylvania, to Hudnell and Lula Marie Caldwell. She was one of nine siblings. She met her husband, Bob, in high school; they married in April of 1950 and by 1955, with two children in tow, they began their 23-year military career with their first stay in Butzbach, Germany. They lived in many states across our country, raising a family that ultimately included five children. Annie cared for her children and her husband through each move, including two tours of duty with her husband deployed overseas.
Wherever she went, Annie was both accepting and accepted, taking new ideas, cultures and people in stride, and walking the walk of a true Christian, offering everyone she met a kind word – and very often a cup of hot chocolate or even a home-cooked meal!
In her younger years, Annie was an avid antique collector and she loved to watch birds. She was also an accomplished cook and a world class entertainer.
Annie’s greatest joy was being with her family. Holidays with Grammy were unforgettable, but even a day spent splashing around in the lake off her porch could be magical. Annie was a resilient, hardworking, fun-loving, and devoted wife and mother who is deeply loved by her family and friends.
Annie was predeceased by her parents; her brother, Alfred Caldwell; her sister, Margie Rogers; and by her daughter, Linda Sue Lorigan-King, whose death was the greatest tragedy and challenge of her life.
Annie is survived by her devoted and loving husband, Robert; the children whom she loved so very much, her son, Robert and his wife, Jami; her daughters, Beth Anne, Amy, and Rebecca Lorigan; her cherished grandchildren, Keith Luhmann and his wife, Jessica, Robert Luhmann, William Dobbins, Arin Rollins and her husband, Greg, Jessie King, Lee Lorigan and his wife, Wendy, Nicholas Menchi, and Matthew Menchi; her great-grandchildren, Eliot and Amelia Luhmann, Gabriel Dobbins, Hayden, Seth and Luke Rollins, Jack and Lee Lorigan; her brothers, Hudnell Caldwell and his wife, Shirley, Mark Caldwell and his wife, Sharon; her sisters, Dawn Rovnak, Emma Lou Piccarillo and her husband, Edward, and Thyra Caldwell; as well as many nieces and nephews who share a love for Aunt Anna Mae!
Please join us in celebrating Annie’s remarkable life at her Memorial Mass at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Danforth, Maine, on Saturday, October 27, 2018, at 11:00 a.m., followed immediately by a gathering of friends and family at her home on East Grand Lake.
