VAN BUREN & CASTLE HILL, Maine and PALESTINE, Texas – Lawrence Donald Soucy went to be with our Lord on September 3, 2018, surrounded by his family of Palestine, TX. He was born April 2, 1946 to Willie and Marie (Gagnon) Soucy in Van Buren, ME. He lived most of his life with foster parents, Sidney and Mary West of Castle Hill, ME, on their potato farm.
Larry loved hunting and fishing. He served his country in the Army, including in Vietnam and Desert Storm, for a total of 27 years. After his service he worked as a diesel mechanic.
Larry is predeceased by his parents and brother, Leo James Soucy of Van Buren, ME. Also sisters, Germaine (Soucy) Marston of Van Buren, ME; Cathleen (Soucy) of South Carolina; Jacqulene (Soucy) Casey of Sanford, ME; Rose (Soucy) Ouellette and Anne Marie (Soucy) Busky of Presque Isle, ME. Step-sisters Omerine (Gagnon) Ouellette of Van Buren, ME; Jeannine (Gagnon) Thibodeau of Van Buren, ME. A baby girl, Diane (sister) and baby boy Gagnon of Van Buren, ME.
Larry is survived by his sisters, Velma (Soucy) Ouellette of Fairfield, ME and Theresa (Soucy) Violette of Coventry, CT. Also step-sister Gennova Pelletier and husband Darrell of Van Buren, ME; brother Willie Soucy and wife Carol of Castle Hill, ME; step-brother Percy Gagnon of Hartford, CT. Lawrence had many aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews and family.
Lawrence was also survived by his only loving daughter, Sandi (Soucy) Nelson, husband Rob and their children Grace and Bri Nelson of Kingsport, TN; also, the mother of his daughter, Shirley (Soucy) Dover of Kingsport, TN; and a dear friend, David Gogan of Overton, TX.
A grave side service was held on September 11, 2018, in Palestine, TX, with full military honors at Denson Springs Cemetary with Bro. Wayne Frazier officiating.
