Celebrate Armistice Day, pray for peace

To the editor:

On Sunday, Nov. 11, we celebrate the 100th anniversary of Armistice Day. It marks the end of World War I at the eleventh hour on the eleventh day of the eleventh month in 1918 — the end of the war that was to end all wars.  In the past 100 years, we have seen continuous and sometimes never-ending war. It is clear that war cannot end war. It’s time to try something different; it’s time to try peace.

Let’s take time to remember that this day is a celebration of peace and the end of war.  Let’s work for peaceful solutions to our problems using tools such as diplomacy, nonviolent conflict resolution, disarmament, and aid.  Let’s join people around the world to pray for peace as a universal principle.
