LIMESTONE, Maine — Limestone selectmen have changed the date of their next meeting to Tuesday, Nov. 20, as their typical schedule of every other Wednesday would place it right before Thanksgiving, a time when many board members likely would not be available.
Newly appointed interim town manager Paul Beaulieu suggested changing the date to Tuesday, adding that many people will be traveling on Wednesday night to be with their families for the holiday.
Select Board Chairman Tom Albert said he was open to changing the date, adding that he could attend on any night that week.
Board members also considered holding the meeting on Monday, as Nov. 20 would conflict with a Limestone Development Foundation meeting. However selectman Fred Pelletier reminded the board that a “firemen’s meeting” occurs on Monday, adding that the board has already “eaten up a lot of Monday nights” holding special board meetings.
With Selectman Walt Elliott absent for Thanksgiving week, and Selectman Pat St. Peter a member of the LDF, only three board members would be present on the 20th.
St. Peter then suggested he could skip the LDF meeting if that date worked for the other board members, after which they unanimously voted to hold their next regularly scheduled meeting at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 20.
