CARIBOU, Maine — Micmac Farms of Caribou will welcome farms from across the Crown of Maine to their first ever off-season market on Saturday, Nov. 17.
The Harvest Festival Market is planned in response to the seasonal hiatus of Caribou’s Thursdays on Sweden Street and the Presque Isle Farmers Market and, organizers said, could mark the first event in a series of winter markets, something that brings farmers together in a time usually considered the off season.
Organizers of the event are already looking at December dates to host a second or third market. The area’s community of farmers and chefs are coming together in time for the Thanksgiving holiday with this food-only festival market. More than 20 vendors will offer products such as locally raised meats, fresh produce, garlic, coffee, honey and everything in between.
“I am excited for the community of farmers coming together this time of year and the support from the public for what they do is very strong,” said Jacob Pelkey of Micmac Farmes. “Everyone I have spoken with is hyped to have an opportunity to shop local in preparation for the holiday.”
This event will showcase the taste of The County and shine a spotlight on some of the innovative farming techniques that are utilized here in Aroostook County. The public is encouraged to get to know the vendors and learn more about how “locally raised” can transform our communities.
All vendors are encouraged to offer samples of their products and engage with the public.
