ASHLAND, Maine – Eldon J. Libby, 96, passed away at his home on Monday, November 12, 2018. He was born on June 10, 1922, in Mapleton, the son of Elton and Ideiz (Condon) Libby.
Eldon worked for almost 28 years for Bangor & Aroostook Railroad as a trackman. Since the age of 16, he listened to and followed the Red Sox by radio faithfully, often sitting in his car listening to games. He loved spending time with his family, his horses and his dogs. He thought the world of Penny’s kids, Tanya and Brian Corbin, calling Brian his “Comrade.”
He is survived by his children and their spouses, Donna and Doug Bachelor, Rebecca and Donald Cole, Miles (Dana) Libby, Judy Russell, Gretchen and Allen Smith, Marion and Pete Johnson, and Adam Libby and his fiancée, Penny Corbin; his sister, Glayds Cain, many grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, several great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Eldon was predeceased by his wife, Ivy Corey; and fourteen brothers and sisters.
