The Maine Principals’ Association has presented the Maine School of Science and Mathematics girls’ varsity soccer team the Good Sportsmanship Award for the Class D North region.
Representatives from the MSSM Penguins traveled to Hampden Academy on Nov. 3 where association officials presented them the banner prior to the Class B boys’ state final between Presque Isle and Freeport.
Senior Victoria Eichorn and junior Sadie Hartt, the team captains, accepted the award along with MSSM Athletic Director Sarah Stackhouse.
Mike Dugal is the head coach of the Penguins. Other members of the team are Eliana Fochesato, Anna Foo, Lydian Frost, Julianna Hundley-Mondello, HyoJu Kweon, Matalin Luce, Hailey Moynihan-Stevens, Annette Mubang, Quinn Pruiksma, Brooke Rethman, Trinity Slate, Emily Stillion, Rothery Sullivan, Dolcie Tanguay and Ashlynne White.
