AUGUSTA, Maine – The Department of the Secretary of State will be closed on Wednesday, Dec. 5, by proclamation of Gov. Paul LePage, in recognition of the National Day of Mourning for the late President George H.W. Bush.
The Bureau of Motor Vehicles is cancelling all driver license examinations scheduled for Wednesday, Dec. 5. Those who are scheduled for an exam on Wednesday will automatically be rescheduled and will receive notice of a new exam date via the mail. Applicants do not need to take any action to receive a new exam date.
Any applicant who is concerned about the expiration date of his/her driver license permit due to the rescheduling of the exam should contact the Driver License Examination & Scheduling Unit at 624-9000, Ext. 52119.
All BMV offices will be closed on Wednesday and the mobile units will not be making their regularly scheduled visits to the towns of Dover-Foxcroft and Farmington.
The department’s other bureaus, the Maine State Archives and Bureau of Corporations, Elections and Commissions, will also be closed Wednesday. Regular business hours will resume Thursday, Dec. 6.
