HERO’S RETURN — The photo I chose had to do with something magical, and I thought what is magical when someone’s son comes home from war for Christmas. I like this photo because it relates to real-life military families.
A PUBLIC NECESSITY — I took this picture of gas pumps at Tenney’s Country Store in Mapleton. I took it at night when it was calm and the town was silent. Many people have used these gas pumps for years and I wanted to show the importance of them to the residents of Mapleton.
BEAUTY AT DAY’S END — I chose this picture because it really captures the beautiful Maine sunset and the lovely fall colors.
SHOP LOCAL — I took this picture at the Richards Christmas Tree Farm in Mapleton. I chose to send this picture because I feel that it is my best work. It’s my favorite picture because of the reflection in the wood and I really like how the sign looks very old and faded. The assignment was to advertise living in northern Maine and I think being able to cut your own Christmas tree shows something that would be fun and appealing.
CENTER OF ATTENTION — I chose this picture because I like all of the colors in the background, and I think that the barn looks really cool because it’s so old. The barn photo is a point-of-focus picture that I took, with the building centered in the middle of the picture. This photo is one of my favorite ones that I have taken for this class, and I think that it looks really nice. It was taken early on in the year so it’s when it was nice outside and the sky and grass really bring out the barn.
