Radio stations, online service providing broadcasts of high school hoops

Townsquare Media and WHOU 100.1 FM, as well as an online service based in Easton, will be broadcasting high school basketball games over the airwaves or via the internet this winter.

The Rock 101.9 FM radio station will air 32 games, with broadcast veteran Bill Casavant handling most of the play-by-play and Ryan Guerrette and Jeff Clockedile also part of the broadcast team.

In addition, games will be streamed on the station’s website at: www.1019therock.com.

The upcoming schedule through the end of the month is:

Friday, Dec. 7 — Houlton at Central Aroostook boys, 7 p.m.

Wednesday, Dec. 12 — Central Aroostook at Houlton girls, 7 p.m.

Thursday, Dec. 13 — Hodgdon at Easton boys, 7 p.m.

Friday, Dec. 14 — Fort Kent at Fort Fairfield boys, 7 p.m.

Monday, Dec. 17 — Fort Fairfield at Central Aroostook girls, 7 p.m.

Wednesday, Dec. 19 — Houlton at Caribou boys, 7 p.m.

Saturday, Dec. 22 — Orono at Presque Isle girls and boys, 2 and 3:30 p.m.

Thursday, Dec. 27 — Shead at Fort Fairfield girls, 3:30 p.m.

Monday, Dec. 31 — Old Town at Presque Isle girls and boys, 2 and 3:30 p.m.

Guerrette, the station manager, said 101.9 The Rock will again deliver tournament coverage of all Aroostook County teams with the local announcing crew.

WHOU 100.1 FM has expanded its coverage and will stream 205 regular season games this winter. In addition to having separate streams for central/northern Aroostook County and southern Aroostook County, there will be two streams out of the Bangor area, one based in Dexter and another out of Fort Kent. The station will broadcast with video on its website, www.whoufm.com.

Tim Tweedie and Rob Moran make up the primary team for the south stream. Representing the north stream will be the duo of Steve Carmichael and Bobby Russell, with Kevin Sjoberg and Bill Guerrette also involved in some of the broadcasts.

The station also will cover games at the tournament this coming February for teams from central and southern Aroostook County. These games will only be on radio.
