PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — Presque Isle police officers arrested a local man Thursday afternoon in connection with an alleged domestic incident that involved threatening with a gun.
Around 1 p.m., police received a 911 call from residents of 146 Lathrop Road in Presque Isle, reporting that their 22-year-old son, Anthony Lovely of Presque Isle, was under the influence of narcotics and threatening to kill them and burn their house down. They also reported that Lovely was carrying a .22 rifle and threatening to shoot them, and that they had locked themselves in a basement bedroom for safety.
Both on-duty and off-duty officers who had been attending a training session at that time quickly responded, as did members of the Aroostook County Sheriff’s Office and Presque Isle Fire and Ambulance service. Officers set up a perimeter around the home and Lovely surrendered peacefully later that afternoon. No one was injured during the incident.
Officers arrested Lovely and charged him with aggravated domestic assault, criminal threatening with a deadly weapon and terrorizing, all of which are felony charges. Police transported Lovely to the Aroostook County Jail in Houlton, where he is being held without bail.
