LIMESTONE, Maine — The Orono boys swim team outscored Carlisle, 70-45, while the Red Riot girls tallied 85 points and Carlsile posted 53 on Saturday afternoon when the local swimmers hosted Orono at Limestone Community School.
Placing first in events for Carlisle were Cassidy Coiley, girls’ 200 medley in 2:23.79 and girls’ 100 backstroke in 1:13.29; Jason Bernaiche, boys’ 100 butterfly in 1:10.82; and Chris Parent, boys’ 100 backstroke in 1:15.55.
The two Carlisle 400-yard freestyle relay teams also prevailed. The girls’ team of Coiley, Riley McNeal, Alexis Valenca and Annicka Benson finished in 5:11.2, while the boys’ team of Bernaiche, Spencer Soucy, Grady McKeough and Parent, recorded a time of 4:54.91.
Soucy was the runner-up in the boys’ 200 free in 2:40.04 and in the 100 free in 1:06.83, while McNeal was second in the girls’ 50 free in 32.14 seconds and in the 500 free in 7:46.79 to add to Carlisle’s point total. Bernaiche was the runner-up in the boys’ 50 free in 25.95 seconds and Benson came in second in the 100 breast with a time of 1:38.95.
Carlisle hosts the Brewer Witches next in a meet this Saturday, Jan. 19, beginning at 1 p.m.
