MARS HILL, Maine — Nonprofit and public organizations in Aroostook County seeking funding for projects that strengthen communities may apply to the Aroostook County Fund, part of the Maine Community Foundation’s Community Building Grant Program.

A volunteer committee of Aroostook County residents and business leaders reviews grants and makes recommendations for funding. In 2018, the committee awarded more than $50,000 in grants to eight nonprofits.

The deadline for applying is Feb. 15, 2019.  Applications, guidelines and a list of 2018 grants are available at www.mainecf.org.

Aroostook County businesses and individuals established the Aroostook County Fund in 1986 to ensure The County would have local charitable resources to address community issues and challenges. Over the years, the fund has grown to almost $1,000,000 and the Aroostook County Committee has awarded more than $500,000 in grants.

MCF maintains headquarters in Ellsworth, with additional personnel in Mars Hill, Portland and Dover-Foxcroft.
