Hoop camp slated at PIHS

    PRESQUE ISLE — The girls and boys varsity basketball staffs are offering their 19th annual Wildcat Basketball Camp for any interested SAD 1 student. All girls and boys entering grades 3-8 for the 2012-13 school year are welcome to attend. The camp is open to experienced players as well as to those with no basketball experience.

    The camp will be run by girls varsity coach Jeff Hudson and boys varsity coach Terry Cummings. The staff will also include coaches from PIHS along with present and former members of the varsity teams.

    The camp will be held June 11-15. To afford each group more playing time, the camp will be divided into two sessions. Students entering grades 3-5 will play in the first session from 5-7 p.m. and those entering grades 6-8 will play in the second session from 7-9 p.m.

    Fundamentals in all phases of basketball will be stressed. There will be drills, individual games and regular full-court games There will also be an emphasis on sportsmanship and having fun.

    The cost is $40 per student, with families with two or three children signing up receiving discounts.
