I got a new magazine, “How Dogs Think,” for Christmas and have been reading some really interesting facts. I have always been interested in anything about dogs; I absolutely love these four-legged creatures.
Dogs have such personalities; each one is different. Having three of my own, each with different personalities, I found this article very interesting. I would say that my Husky-Lab mix, when she was younger, was definitely a Renaissance Dog, my Lhasa Apso is the Socialite and my little Yorkie is a Charmer. Below are the nine different personalities.
Ace: The Aces account for 10 percent of all the dogs. They are excellent problem-solvers with sharp communication skills.
Einstein: These brainiacs make up approximately 3 percent of all dogs. They have excellent memories and problem-solving skills. Einstein’s are essentially the “rocket scientists” of the dog world, but they struggle socially.
Stargazer: These account for approximately 8 percent of all dogs. They are commonly seen as aloof and often struggle both socially and with training.
Charmer: The Charmer profile accounts for approximately 16 percent of all dogs. Charmers can be mischievous and are able to read your body language effectively.
Expert: Expert dogs have a strong memory and sharp problem-solving skills; they account for 7 percent of all dogs. Expert dogs tend to be more independent and rely less on humans.
Maverick: Approximately 7 percent of all dogs are considered Maverick or very independent problem-solvers.
Socialite: Socialites are gregarious and interact gracefully with humans. They account for 22 percent of all dogs. Socialites may not possess excellent problem-solving skills, but they do know how to get what they want from us.
Proto Dog: Flexible and spontaneous, Proto dogs account for approximately 15 percent of all dogs.
Renaissance Dog: Renaissance dogs are extremely attentive; they account for approximately 12 percent of all dogs. They are reliable and possess traits from all the other categories.
