PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — The United Way of Aroostook is looking for its next Northern Star and invites talent of all ages, styles and sizes to compete in this year’s three regional shows.

The region-wide talent competition is now in its 15th year and will hold regional contests in Fort Kent, Presque Isle and Houlton, with a finale program at the Caribou Performing Arts Center.

Individuals and groups under the age of 12 will compete in the Junior Division.  All others will compete at the Regular Division level.

Regional Shows will take place Friday, March 8, at 7 p.m. at Fox Auditorium in Fort Kent; Saturday, March 9, at 7 p.m. at the Presque Isle Middle School auditorium; and Sunday, March 10, at 2 p.m. at the Community Arts Center in Houlton.

Co-hosts for this year’s shows will once again be Jason Parent, executive director of the Aroostook County Action Program, and Katie Zarrilli of WAGM-TV. The events will include performances by 2018’s Northern Star, Jacob Graham of Presque Isle, and the first ever Junior Northern Star, Sadie Cairns from New Canada.

Local celebrities will judge acts at each regional show.  Audiences will choose two individuals or groups from each region to advance to the finale, along with one act chosen by the judges. Audience members will select the one individual or group from the Junior Division to move on to the finale, which will be held on Sunday, March 24, at 2 p.m. at the Caribou Performing Arts Center.
