Automotive program meets national goal

PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — Northern Maine Community College was recently notified that its automotive technology program continues to meet the requirement for Master Automobile Service Technology Accreditation — the highest level of program accreditation recognized by the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE).

According to Pamela Buck, Trade and Tech department chair, “Vehicles today are becoming increasingly complex with regards to technology. It is important for us to train technicians using the latest tools and equipment. We are pleased that our program continues to meet the high standards of ASE.”

Accreditation of an automotive training program brings with it program credibility, prestige, recognition and overall program improvement, said NMCC officials. By ensuring training programs meet the highest standards, accreditation benefits everyone from schools, students and future employers, to the automotive service industry and everyone driving on our nation’s roads.

“This accreditation is a recognition of NMCC’s commitment to teaching excellence in the automotive technology field.  Our educational practices contribute to the continuous improvement of training and education,” said Buck.
