Legislators plan town hall on priorities

FORT KENT, Maine — State Senate President Troy Jackson, D-Allagash, will host a town hall meeting in Fort Kent on Friday, March 1, to lay out priorities for the next two years.

The session will take place at 6:30 p.m. at the University of Maine Fort Kent’s Nadeau Hall. Jackson be joined by House Majority Leader Matt Moonen, D-Portland; Assistant House Majority Leader Ryan Fecteau, D-Biddeford; Sen. Mike Carpenter, D-Houlton; and Rep. John Martin, D-Eagle Lake.

The public is welcome to attend.

Priorities include providing property tax relief, lowering the cost of prescription drugs, making health care more accessible and more affordable and building and economy that works for everyone.

“In the Senate, we are committed to building a Maine that puts working families first. It’s time for Augusta to focus on supporting working people, laying the groundwork for the success of our children, and helping Maine’s aging population,” said Jackson. “I want the people of Maine to know that we are looking out for their health, families, job and wallet.”

That evening’s brief presentation will be followed by questions and answers with the audience.
