PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — Wanda Guiggey, president of the United Way of Aroostook board of directors, and Tony Lahey, Task Force chair, have announced that UWA is now accepting funding applications for 2019-2020.
Non-profit health and human service organizations serving Aroostook County citizens may apply to the United Way of Aroostook for funds that were raised during the annual fundraising campaign. UWA will helping to support County-based agencies and programs that are helping meet the most crucial health and human service needs of Aroostook’s most vulnerable citizens.
According to UWA Executive Director Sherry Locke, United Way is focused on strengthening health, income and education, and has a goal to create lasting, positive change for the citizens of Aroostook County. UWA’s current funded agencies and programs promote self-sufficiency, meet basic needs, and support seniors, children and families.
Any non-profit organization who wishes to make a sustainable impact on one or more of these areas is invited to consider applying for funding.
The Community Impact Investment Applications and other information about the application process are available by calling the United Way of Aroostook at 764-5197. It can also be found online at www.unitedwayaroostook.org. The deadline for submitting completed applications is Monday, March 25th, 2019, at 3 p.m.
Related to the funding process, UWA seeks approximately 25 volunteers to serve on its Fund Distribution Task Force. These volunteers will work as a team to review and evaluate all applications received.
Volunteers will be identifying and recommending funding levels for programs meeting The County’s most crucial needs. The Task Force will meet two times: once for an informational meeting on Thursday, March 28, and again on Tuesday, April 23.
