FORT FAIRFIELD, Maine — Local police arrested three men in Fort Fairfield on Monday and Tuesday and charged them with drug and firearm violations.

On Monday, March 4, Fort Fairfield Police Officer Dale Keegan found Kurt Condon of Presque Isle unconscious in his vehicle on Brookview Avenue near downtown Fort Fairfield.

In late January, Condon had been charged with possession of a firearm by a prohibited person after he shot his finger while handling a handgun, according to the department.

During the encounter Monday, Keegan saw in “plain view” a .22 caliber rifle and 12-gauge shotgun in the back seat of the vehicle. Keegan arrested Condon and during a search of a vehicle found crystal methamphetamine, according to the police department.

The officer charged Condon with possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, possession of schedule W drugs, and felony violation of conditional release. The suspect then was transported to a holding cell at the Caribou Police Department to await arraignment, according to the police.

On March 5, Fort Fairfield police executed a search warrant at 79 Maple Grove Road in Presque Isle, where Condon lives with his father David Condon.

At that house, police reported finding ammunition, gun parts, drug paraphernalia and another substance suspected to be methamphetamine.

Police arrested David Condon, the homeowner, and charged him with possession of scheduled drugs and unlawful furnishing of scheduled drugs.

Police also arrested another person at the home at the time, Scott Churchill of Fort Fairfield, and charged him with unlawful possession of suboxone. Officers transported David Condon and Churchill to the Presque Isle Police Department where both men posted bail.

Members of the U.S. Border Patrol, Aroostook County Sheriff’s Department, and Presque Isle Police Department assisted the Fort Fairfield police.

Fort Fairfield police said that over the last month they have seized almost 40 grams of crystal methamphetamine within the town, and that drug violations remain a major focus of theirs.
