PATTEN, Maine — The American Red Cross of Maine and the Patten Fire Department are teaming up to make town residents safer by installing free smoke alarms in their homes, helping them create escape plans and providing other fire safety tips.
Patten residents can make an appointment for free smoke alarm installation by calling the Red Cross at 874-1192, extension 113, or visiting soundthealarm.org/maine. The Red Cross, the Fire Department and community volunteers will perform the installations on Sunday, March 17.
The Patten event is part of a national campaign launched by the Red Cross in 2014 to reduce home fire deaths. So far, the campaign has saved at least 520 lives – including those of at least eight Mainers.
