The five-part CPAC series will also include Spencer and the Walrus – a Beatles Tribute on Friday, May 4, and Tim Sample on Friday, Aug. 30. Other shows are yet to be announced. The series has been made possible in part by the sponsorship of multiple local businesses and organizations.
Darci Faye of VISTA, who is coordinating the events, said she is excited at the quality of the acts that are lining up.
“I have been very impressed with the level of performers we are attracting,”said Faye, who is also coordinating a children’s theater project. “The Mallett Brothers are a great way to begin and the Beatles Tribute is selling out at multiple venues in Portland. Tim Sample is a very well-known and a highly regarded Maine humorist.
“We hope to announce two more high-quality shows in the near future,” she added.
The Mallett Brothers play a variety of styles from alt-country to Americana, country, jam and roots rock. Their busy tour schedule since forming in 2009 has helped them to build a dedicated fan base across the U.S. and beyond while still calling the state of Maine their home.
The band has performed at many venues, including the State Theatre in Portland, as well as at the Continental Club in Austin, Texas; the Birchmere in Alexandria, Va.; The Meadowbrook Pavilion in New Hampshire; the Bluebird in Nashville, Cervantes’ in Denver and The Rev Room in Little Rock, Ark.
The 2017 Portland Phoenix Music Awards recognized them for Best Live Act, Best Country Act and Best Album.
