LITTLETON, Maine — Approximately 20 people gathered at the Meduxnekeag Ramblers Clubhouse on Monday evening for the annual town meeting approved a municipal budget of $523,273. The amount represents an increase of $27,475 over last year.

Residents approved the 33 articles on the warrant without much debate during the 21 minute meeting.

Gordon Hagerman and Colby Shaw both ran unopposed and were re-elected to the Board of Selectmen.

Lorie Schools, town manager in Littleton, said Tuesday that the meeting went well. She said voters approved the increase in the municipal budget in part to catch up on road paving projects.

The town manager said the school appropriation and the Aroostook County tax had not yet been determined.

Increases in the budget included: $500 for animal control; $300 for the cemetery; $5,000 for town officers; $2,000 for payroll tax;  $21,400 for highways and bridges; $265 for ambulance; $56 for Cary Library; and $175 for Aroostook Area on Aging. There were also decreases in the budget, including a $2,200 deduction for insurance.
