CARIBOU, Maine — The Cat Coalition of Western Maine’s Mobile Spay Unit, sponsored by a grant from Marion’s Dream, will arrive in Caribou the evening of Thursday, May 2, for a three-day cat spay and neuter clinic.

The event will take place at the 2nd Chance Thrift Store at 31 Herschel St. in Caribou on Friday, May 3, Saturday, May 4 and Sunday, May 5.

The Halfway Home Pet Rescue has supervised local arrangements for the event. According to Norma Milton, HHPR president, the clinic aims to spay/neuter close to 200 cats belonging to low-income families within Caribou and the surrounding communities.

There is no charge for this service, which includes the surgery, rabies vaccination, ear cleaning, ear mite treatment, nail trimming and parasite treatment. Donation containers will be available at the clinic.

Although all spaces are full for this session, interested pet owners can make arrangements for an upcoming clinic in June.

Milton advised pet owners can help curb the overpopulation of cats in Aroostook County by supporting these free spay/neuter clinics.
