We always love it when we get updates on the pets that we have adopted, and it is even better when we get to see them. Just recently we received a visit from Eliot and he looks amazing. Eliot is the Burmese mountain dog that we were able to help with hip surgery. His new home is just simply the best and he is such a happy dog. Thanks for stopping by Eliot, you made our day.
Diesel continues to do well. He loves his new foster home which will eventually be his forever home once Diesel gets a clean bill of health. Diesel is at the vet for the night where he will have blood work tomorrow to determine if he has Cushing’s disease, a condition associated with an excess of cortisol. This is just one more hurdle for Diesel, but we are confident that everything will be OK even if he does have Cushing’s disease. He has his new forever home no matter what the results are and that is an amazing thing.
Recently, we were also able to help a little dog named Frito who had some behavioral issues. Frito is now in an awesome home with new parents who are willing to work through those issues with a lot of love and patience. They understand his needs and are devoted to him and helping him to overcome his issues.
We miss our little buddy Tucker and have not received any updates as of yet, but we hear through the grapevine that he is doing well and is in the perfect home.
When you are a part of any rescue you become very attached to the ones that pass through your doors. You see them at their worst and then you see them at their best. You hold them when they are sick and injured and you promise them everything will be alright. You care for each and everyone of them as if they were your own. You cry for the ones that don’t survive and you smile for every one that you were able to save. We learn from every experience and we take pride in the work that we do. We love the work we do and our lives would not be complete if we didn’t do what we do.
Unfortunately for every happy ending there is a sad story, but that only makes us more determined to have more happy endings and to continue making a difference in the lives of so many animals.
We have grown so much as an organization with each and every animal that passes through our doors. They have taught us that every animal’s life is meaningful and that they all have a purpose. Life is a gift something that should never be taken for granted. Everyone of us has the ability to make a difference. We can choose something positive or we can sit back and just do nothing. At The Ark, we choose to do something positive. It is not in our makeup to do nothing. We are a group of hard working, committed individuals that happen to think that we can change the world one rescue at a time.
