Movies in the Park will be happening again this year, according to a Facebook post from the Presque Isle Police Department.
“Despicable Me” is scheduled to start the summer off with a showing on Friday, June 14, on Riverside Drive. The movie will play as soon as it is dark enough outside, around 9 or 9:30 p.m., Chief Laurie Kelly of the PI PD said.
A movie will show every other week on Friday nights, with an exception for the showing of “Dumbo,” which has been moved to Saturday, Aug. 24, to play in conjunction with the Balloon Festival.
According to Chief Kelly, this is the “second or third” year of the program, which was started by former Police Chief Matt Irwin. Kelly said the program is able to continue this year thanks to contributions from local sponsors.
Movies in the Park will continue through summer with the last movie to show on Oct. 4.
A complete list of the movies scheduled to play can be found on the PI PD’s Facebook page.
