FORT KENT, Maine- The University of Maine at Fort Kent graduating seniors received their degrees at the 137th commencement exercises held at UMFK’s Sports Center on May 11th. University President Dr. John N. Short presided over the ceremony.
University of Maine System Chancellor James Page, Ph.D., presented former Maine governor Paul R. Lepage with an honorary degree.
Two UMFK alumni were honored with the University’s Distinguished Service Award, Melford Pelletier (’67), and Reynold Raymond (´71) for their many years of service to UMFK, the St. John Valley, and the state of Maine.
Carrie Hessler-Radelet addressed the graduating class. Hessler-Radelet is President and CEO of Project Concern International (PCI). PCI is a global development organization working with families and communities to enhance health, end hunger, overcome hardship and advance women and girls in 15 countries.
Georgii Safonov addressed his fellow graduates. Safonov is from Kyiv, Ukraine and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business.
