HOULTON, Maine — The Houlton Community Market was recently awarded grant funding for a new summer children’s program, “Kids Market.”
The market program is for children ages 4 to 12 and will take place over eight Saturdays during the season, beginning Saturday, June 22. Children can sign up at the market’s information booth and will receive a cloth shopping bag and notebook with nutrition and farm-related activities to complete.
Children who participate in the “Kids Market” activities will receive a $2 token that they can use to buy fresh fruits and vegetables at the market. Grant funding is provided by the Joseph and Lorayne Fund and Pinetree Fund for Aroostook County through the Maine Community Foundation. Families are encouraged to stop by the market’s information booth to sign up and find out which Saturday’s “Kids Market” is happening.
