Aroostook Cup racing under way

Snow is finally on the ground and no one could be happier than skiers in northern Maine. Local clubs officially kicked off the Aroostook Cup racing season Sunday with a 5K event and kids obstacle course challenge in Caribou, which was rescheduled from New Years weekend.
    The first race in a series of 11 saw the Northern Skiers Club take first place in cup standings with 29 points on their home snow followed by Snow Mountain Club in Stockholm with 16 points, the 10th Mountain Club in Fort Kent with 11, the     Limestone Ski Club with seven, the Nordic Heritage Sport Club from Presque Isle, the Four Seasons Trail Club from Madawaska with two and the Wostawea and Maine Nordic Ski Clubs with one point each.
